LVS - AVALANCHE VICTIM SEARCH TRAINING

approx. 90 min. | max. 8 participants

Realistically, in the event of an avalanche burial, there is a maximum of 15 minutes for a rescue with a chance of survival! This means that only a companion rescue offers the prospect of real help. In this intensive training course, our professionals will teach you the theory and practice of what is important. Whether on ski tours or freeriding: Whenever you go into unsecured terrain, you need to be able to assess the avalanche risk. Careful planning, appropriate behaviour in the terrain and the experience to be able to recognise potential danger spots are the basis for your safety on tour. In order to impart this knowledge, the Alpinmesse has been offering avalanche transceiver training courses for beginners or to refresh existing knowledge since 2010. The right equipment is a must on the mountain, but without a sound knowledge of how to use it, you are helpless in an emergency.

Avalanche training provides you with the necessary basic knowledge about emergency equipment. By practising with your avalanche transceiver or a rental device, you will learn the essential rules for searching for avalanches, the correct behaviour in the event of an avalanche and how to make an emergency call. You can practise avalanche transceiver searches under quite realistic conditions on the one square metre search field, which is made of wood chips for the sake of the environment. The field is home to the Girsberger Avalanche Training Centre, a stationary facility for practising avalanche victim searches with avalanche transceivers and avalanche probes.

The transmitters buried 5 - 16 cm in the search field locate the same signals as an avalanche transceiver. The remote-controlled transmitters can be activated randomly or manually at the control centre. With these options, simple and complex burial scenarios can be practised. Bring your own avalanche transceiver and good footwear. Or take the opportunity to test the avalanche transceivers of all well-known manufacturers.

avalanche REPORT

approx. 60 min. | max. 20 participants | Lawinenwarndienst

More and more avalanche warning services are issuing an avalanche forecast for the following day instead of an avalanche report for the current day. Since the winter of 2018/2019, this has also been the case for the three avalanche warning services of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino, for example, which publish a joint, cross-border and multilingual avalanche report every day.

This is a globally unique project that has been very well received by users. The aim of the workshop is to go into the concept, structure and important background knowledge on avalanche reports. In the end, it is always crucial that the information from the avalanche warning services is optimally recorded and, above all, can be implemented in the field.
