Winter update from the Alpenvereins

Friday, 21 November 2025

The Winter Update is the next step in the successful Avalanche Update – with a new focus and fresh format. The goal is still to raise awareness of safety-related topics at the start of the season – in a timely, practical and in-depth way.

In addition to avalanches, the focus is now also on accident-related topics such as falls and cold weather. Current accident examples are used to analyse the decisive factors – and clear ‘take-home points’ are derived for your decisions on the mountain. The format is also new: From the perspectives of an ÖAV mountain sports expert, an avalanche warning officer and an ÖAMTC air rescue worker, analyses and discussions take place on stage, moderated by another ÖAV mountain sports professional.

The result: concentrated expertise, exciting insights and practical knowledge – for everyone who spends time outdoors in winter.
