The alpine touring workshops focus on safety: roping up, equipment and crevasse rescue. Participants learn essential skills for safe and successful undertakings in alpine terrain.

Workshops

Subject to change without notice. The workshops cost €5. However, participants will be reimbursed in the form of food and drink vouchers for the DoN Café or the DoN Restaurant. No cash redemption.Only two workshops can be booked per ticket.

High tours 1 - EQUIPMENT & ROPing up

approx. 110 min. | max. 12 persons | Österreichischer Alpenverein

Station 1: Adequate equipment | Station 2: Correct roping up

Two methods of crevasse rescue, namely the “team pull” and the “rope roll”, are demonstrated and explained in detail. Practice is particularly important here, as the “rope roll” is a complex rope maneuver and must be performed under difficult conditions. If possible, participants should bring their own equipment: Hip belt, carabiners, rope cords. The ropes are provided by the Alpine Club. In addition, there will be an equipment depot on site to complete any missing items.

DATES

SATURDAY | outdoor area west 3.00 p.m.
SUNDAY | outdoor area west 10.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.

High tours 2 - COLUMN MOUNTING

approx. 110 min. | max. 12 persons | Österreichischer Alpenverein

Station 1: Team hoist | Station 2: Rope pulley

Material is reassuring! However, the selection of the necessary and correct equipment requires special care and know-how, as we have to rely 100% on our equipment. The second part deals with the topic of roping up on the glacier.

How much distance? Brake knots or not? Where to put the remaining rope? These questions will be discussed on site. There will also be enough time for practicing.

Dates

SATURDAY | outdoor area west 3.00 p.m.
SUNDAY | outdoor area west 10.30 a.m. and 3.30 pm
